Dumb, I know. But, it was a nicer way to spend the past half-hour than working.

Speaking of things that you do at work that aren't work: let me encourage you, or at least remind you, that November is national novel writing month(NaNoWriMo), and that thousands of people (like myself) are going to write like crazy and try their durndest to produce a (at least) 50,000 word novel in 30 days. By adding the element of speed we are removing the pressures of quality. These novels are going to suck, spectacularly (how could they not? We are talking 1,666 words EVERY DAY. At my typing speed that is roughly an hour a day, every day, straight typing. Yipes.). But, regardless, if you fancy yourself a writer (of any sort) I encourage you to try this. Worst case scenario you try it and it doesn't work out and you can say "that was stupid, of COURSE I can't write MY novel in 30 days. It is much too important.." and you can feel good about yourself. Best case scenario you finish the goddamn 50,000 words and you are now and forever-more a novelist. How cool is that?

Well, anyway, I am going to give it a try. I may even post excerpts of my masterpiece here for you to snicker at as the month goes by. Or maybe I will just abandon it 3 days in. But I hope not.
