Chris Stangland, a Web designer from Shrewsbury, Mass., now living in Brooklyn, does not get back very often to Fenway, where the teams are battling this week for first place in the American League East Division. But he hopes to go to Yankee Stadium when the Red Sox visit New York for a scheduled three-game series next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. At Yankee Stadium, he openly roots for the Red Sox, and he does have to admit that he has never encountered problems with overly boisterous fans in the Bronx. But that doesn't mean he's not angry. ''What has someone my age invested in rooting for the Yankees?'' asked Mr. Stangland, 30. ''Where are the scars? Having everything handed to you on a silver platter doesn't build character. Fandom isn't all about winning. It doesn't take anything to be a Yankee fan.''

This is part of an article in today's New York Times. Pretty cool, eh? If you want to read the whole article click here, you'll have to register on the Times website, but it is free and easy. I don't know how long this link will work.

Obviously, although the quote above is me, the article that I have quoted quoting me is the work of one David Koeppel, a guy I don't know but who found me because of a webpage I wrote in here at some point (I am figuring it was this one) and sent me an email and then we talked on the phone. Nice, personable, guy. Mets fan. So, yeah, anyway. My quote but not my work. So, please-oh-please all you lawyers working for the New York Times: Stay back. I think I will have enough to deal with from all the irate Yankees fans who now know my name and borough of residence...
